Primary Purpose: To work as part of the Student Recruitment team responsible for supporting students through the recruitment, admission, and pre-arrival/arrival phases of the student life cycle. The Student Recruitment team is responsible for assisting the University of Saskatchewan to achieve its strategic enrolment goals. The primary focus of this role is to carry out communications and activities that positively promote the University of Saskatchewan for domestic, Indigenous, and international prospective students.
Nature of Work: Reporting to the Manager of Student Recruitment and is supervised by the Coordinator while working closely with other members of student recruitment, admissions, and the units within the Teaching, Learning and Student Experience portfolio. The incumbent will be required to act as an ambassador of the University of Saskatchewan and will respond to prospective student enquiries with a high level of customer service, tact, cultural sensitivity, confidentiality, accuracy, attention to detail and problem solving capability.
Typical Duties: The incumbent will be required to respond to telephone, voicemail, in-person, email, paper mail, fax, social media, Skype and web enquiries from a diverse group of individuals including: prospective students, current students, parents, high school counsellors, First Nations post-secondary coordinators, international educational representatives, principals, education centres, embassies, other key influencers, university staff and faculty and the wider community.
Education: Completion of Grade 12 or post-secondary education or a recognized post-secondary secretarial or administrative assistant diploma or certificate program. Relevant work experience, cultural understanding and customer service experience are required. Experience taking university courses would be an asset to this position, specifically courses from the University of Saskatchewan.
Experience: Minimum three years of related experience in a client service environment in a post-secondary educational institution. Additional experience in the area of student recruitment and admissions, including both domestic and international, knowledge of the University of Saskatchewan and its programs, transfer credit policies, campus culture, and current campus support services for students. Demonstrated proficiency and a proper working level in various technologies such as: database software, proficiency with the Student Information System (Banner), relationship management system (RMS – RECRUIT), SiRIUS, Cisco Phone, PAWS navigation and customization, Outlook and PAWS calendar use and administration would be considered assets.
Skills: Effective interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with persons from a broad range of backgrounds and cultures; demonstrated skill in the ability to handle interactions with tact, discretion, confidentiality and sensitivity, especially when interacting with difficult individuals during times of high emotion and stress; ability to work well as part of a team; demonstrated creativity and event planning experience; experience using Recruit (RMS), Banner, PAWS, Outlook, Word, Excel and other computer programs to aid in providing efficient and effective service.
