Faculty Member (Program Director, General Practice Residency Program)
The College of Dentistry invites applications from qualified individuals for a full time tenure-track position for the Director of the General Practice Residency Program (GPR). The General Practice Residency at the USask is seeking an engaged, energetic, clinically active Program Director to provide leadership for program accreditation with the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The successful candidate will have a DMD, DDS, or BDS, have completed a General Practice Residency Program, possess a passion for hospital dentistry and resident education, and be able to demonstrate a broad dental clinical skill set. Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- experience in teaching, course coordination, patient care, and academic management;
- demonstrated achievement in research including publications in peer reviewed journals;
- demonstrated service activities such as committee participation at the College and Hospital level.
Candidates in this role will be responsible for: day to day administration of the General Practice Residency Program; developing, evaluating, revising and implementing the GPR curriculum; maintaining Commission on Dental Accreditation (CDAC) standards and accreditation; recruiting and involving community-based faculty; didactic and clinical teaching and evaluation of residents; recruiting applicants; organizing and overseeing resident selection; supervising resident clinical activities; overseeing GPR Program support staff (clinical, technical, administrative); initiating and maintaining a program of research; and participating in College and Hospital committees as assigned. Opportunity to engage in private practice (maximum of 1.5 days per week) is available. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CDSS) http://www.saskdentists.com/licensing. The salary bands are: Assistant Professor $93,293 - $112,109; Associate Professor $112,109 – $130,925; Full Professor $130,925 - $152,877. Independent of rank, a starting salary above the standard salary bands is possible in rare and exceptional circumstances pursuant to Article 220.127.116.11 of the 2014-2017 USFA Collective Agreement (see: http://www.usaskfaculty.ca/?attachment_id=3298). This position includes a comprehensive benefits package which includes a dental, health and extended vision care plan; pension plan, life insurance (compulsory and voluntary), academic long term disability, sick leave, travel insurance, death benefits, an employee assistance program, a professional expense allowance and a flexible health and wellness spending program.
